Preserve History
Help Keep History Afloat
For more than 207 years, the Millersburg Ferry has continued operating along the Susquehanna River. Because of supporters like you, this historic crossing can continue serving future generations for many years to come.
Why We Need You
Why Your Support Matters
The Millersburg Ferry is operated by a nonprofit organization. Currently, there is no government funding and no corporate sponsor behind our operations. Instead, we rely on visitors, local families, and supporters who believe that preserving history still matters today.
Every season, however, brings new challenges. Additionally, our crew works year-round to maintain two historic wooden vessels by repairing hulls, replacing worn planks, servicing traditional paddle wheel systems, and ensuring the safety of every crossing across the Susquehanna River.
Unlike modern fiberglass boats, these handcrafted wooden vessels require ongoing care, skilled work, and regular maintenance. As a result, even small donations help us continue daily operations and long-term repair efforts.
Most importantly, your support helps preserve a living piece of American river history that families, visitors, and future generations can continue to experience firsthand. Furthermore, your contribution helps us continue important repair and upkeep projects throughout the operating season.
